THN VISTA Homeless Coalition Coordinator (Texarkana)
 
 
 
The Texas Homeless Network (THN) works to provide solutions to end homelessness in Texas communities through education, resources, and advocacy. Currently, THN has VISTA members placed throughout the state working on capacity building and program development to assist communities in ending homelessness. This VISTA project will continue to build capacity to support the local coalition, build SOAR program and the maintain the Coordinated Entry (CE) system. To achieve this goal, the VISTA member will primarily focus on strengthening partnerships and providing technical assistance to local homeless service organizations. The outcome will allow community partners to more effectively provide housing and other services to persons experiencing homelessness.

Member Duties : 1. Assist with coordination of coalition events: Point-in-Time count, Bridge City Project, & coalition meetings 2. Research successful strategies that other states have utilized for introducing the SOAR (SSI/SSDI, Outreach, Access, & Recovery) model 3. Complete community assessment to evaluate: existing support for permanent housing solutions, data management data & data-driven decision making, strategic partnerships that advance efforts to end homelessness 4. Develop & implement plan for a volunteer Coordinated Entry team 5.
