F&CS - BBBS - Resource Development & Marketing Coordinator

Big Brothers Big Sisters has not only the experience of serving children but also experience engaging and training volunteers. Our organization makes meaningful, monitored, 1-to-1 matches between adult volunteers (Bigs) and children (Littles). Specifically the population our project intends to serve are children, ages 6 through 18, in communities of need across Lorain County. While poverty and single parent homes are not requirements of our program, they are pretty good indicators of community need. We strengthen communities throughout Lorain County by developing professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change children's lives for the better. We offer two core programs: Community-Based and School-Based Mentoring. Community-Based mentoring is the traditional program, where mentors and children get together once or twice a month, on their own time, to participate in fun activities they both enjoy. Our school-based program engages high school students and community members to serve as mentors to an elementary or middle school child. Mentors and children meet for about an hour and a half, once a week at a designated school or community location. Big Brothers Big Sisters staff facilitates this program using a curriculum designed specifically for this peer-to-peer age group. We identified critical areas of development where we can expand and strengthen program services and leverage VISTA support to sustain our work. Our Resource Development and Marketing Coordinator VISTA will work in conjunction with our Community Engagement Officer and marketing and development team to focus efforts on strategic/corporate partnerships, best practices for fundraising, and marketing to promote community interest and investment to help expand program services in targeted areas of community need. The VISTA will help sustain our strategic growth goals by strengthening our donor management and cultivation process to support the increase in children served.
