F&CS - KKCC - Summer Camp Counselor
 
 
 
King Kennedy Community Center (KKCC) is in Ravenna, Ohio in the McElrath Park Community and serves as a community resource hub. These resources are motivators for these individuals to achieve their potential of becoming educated and well rounded. KKCC’s mission is to better the Portage County Community by working with residents to improve overall living conditions. It is a short drive from Akron, Cleveland, as well as Kent, home of Kent State University. KKCC is influenced by multiple cultures and concepts due to the proximity of various college campuses. KKCC offers numerous benefits, opportunities for growth and development. Continuing Learning Education events may be attended, to improve knowledge and professional skills. Networking with Family and Community Services agencies, as well as other local and county agencies will take place throughout the service term. VISTAs will be able to see how their work positively affects community members. VISTA members have the advantage gaining real world experience by networking, attending trainings, and traveling locally. Applicants must have some experience when working with youth, preferably 1 year, in a social and educational environment, ability to be engage youth in daily activities while being able to create lesson plans through age appropriate recreational activities (Grades K-8th) and have experience in: teamwork, team building skills, organizational skills, advanced interpersonal communication skills, conflict resolution skills and maintain a flexible schedule and have reliable transportation.

Member Duties : Camp Counselor: As a VISTA member, you will plan and execute recreational and educational age appropriate activities, prepare and serve summer camp meals, help youth develop skills, teamwork and sportsmanship, assist youth with indoor and outdoor skill building activities, use group management skills to engage youth in daily activities, act as a mentor to youth and gain personal communication skills, communicate with parents, community partners, and other outside liaisons, assist with data entry, ordering supplies, and attendance, proficient in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office ,attendant and participate in field trips activities, and monitor the safety and health of campers.
