Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland

Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland provides ongoing programs and services to achieve, preserve and sustain the American dream of homeownership. Founded in 1975, under the “Build It, Fix It, Keep It” model, we believe that stable, sustainable homeownership is an ideal pathway for low- to moderate- income (LMI) earners not only to build wealth, but to improve overall quality of life. NHS of Greater Cleveland will be offering the Financial Empowerment Series in the Moreland District, as a result of residents’ stated needs for tools to competently address financial stressors, crises, or financial management issues they face, such as gaps in knowledge or resources. The program will be marketed in the Greater Cleveland area press including Sun Press, Cleveland.com, Cleveland Scene, the NHS e-newsletter and website, and social media. Participation in the workshop is free and open to the public. NHS will work with district constituents (like CMSD and others), as well as a resident committee to determine the venue or venues in which the sessions will be offered. Selecting a venue whose mission or business will benefit from hosting the Financial Empowerment Program is a priority. The ultimate goal is not only to provide resources, support, and tools that impoverished individuals and families need to gain and implement sound financial decision making strategies and skills learned throughout the series on an ongoing and long-term basis, but also to dramatically reduce the number of foreclosure filings in any identified area of risk by the conclusion of the grant period.
