Community Building Partnership of Stark County
 
 
 
We seek support from a VISTA to help us build the capacity of our organization to take on new opportunities and partnerships with the City of Canton in implementation of its citywide comprehensive plan. A large part of this effort will be to assist low-to-moderate income (LMI) individuals and households receive housing counseling and support to guide them on the path to successful home ownership. Our VISTA will build our capacity to serve the LMI residents through outreach, program development, and evaluation. We wish to identify new LMI participants, identify new areas of the City of Canton for outreach as well as program participants, and improve our programs by evaluating our success. We are also seeking assistance in identifying new partnership opportunities through which we can serve LMI residents in becoming homeowners. To limited extent at present, our organization is partnering with the City of Canton and other entities to lay a foundation for securing funding for increased employment opportunities. As these efforts are very nascent at this time, but are expected to grow in 2018, we anticipate a small portion of our VISTA’s service will be to assist our staff and community partners in these efforts.

Member Duties : Our VISTA will help us research and identify new partner organizations and new program participants so that we can increase the capacity of our organization to reach and assist more residents and households in achieving home ownership. Our VISTA will develop outreach and program information to increase community awareness of our housing counseling opportunities, both throughout the county (i.e., identifying program partners) and within strategic core asset investment areas in the City of Canton. Our VISTA will improve current programming by developing methods for evaluating our success at helping LMI residents successfully navigate the pathways to home ownership. Our VISTA will help our organization and community partners increase employment opportunities in LMI areas of Canton by identifying new funding avenues, business partners, and prospective program participants.
