The City of Flint Master Plan is a framework outlining goals and strategies to help Flint become a healthier, sustainable and vibrant place to live, work and play. To support and development this framework the City of Flint AmeriCorps VISTA members implement city-wide master plan goals by engaging the community in thoughtful stakeholder dialogue, facilitating micro-projects, recruiting volunteers to support these efforts and developing media and communication tools to share the story of service. VISTAs serve to implement the Master Plan in areas including parks and green spaces, safety, neighborhood engagement, and more. Member activities include engaging the community in thoughtful stakeholder dialogue, facilitating micro-projects, recruiting volunteers to support these efforts and developing media and communication tools to share the story of service.

Member Duties : Members will utilize the Master Plan to develop neighborhood planning strategies and activities to carry out the community vision. Broadly, member tasks might involve: Track the progress of Master Plan implementation and identify areas of future efforts; Meet with community groups to build relationships and to improve community between the City and target neighborhoods; Review the Imagine Flint Master Plan and Blight Elimination Framework; Conduct and provide research and data; including GIS maps, neighborhood meeting responses, surveys, etc., to make decisions about neighborhood planning activities Research best practices; Provide resource management for neighborhood park plans; Develop and manage volunteer recruitment and retention systems for neighborhood planning projects; Research and apply for grants; Share the story of success of the projects with stakeholders and community members; Collaborate with National Service members in the city on shared projects
