20-21 Wenatchee River Institute, Field Educator
The Wenatchee River Institute, located in Leavenworth, WA, is Central Washington’s leader in hands-on environmental education. Our AmeriCorps Field Educator will work with us towards our mission of connecting people, communities and the natural world. The Wenatchee River Institute Field Education Project incorporates our AmeriCorps Field Educator into all aspects of educational programming taking place. This will include teaching Field Days with school groups, teaching with the Traveling Naturalist program, developing activities for summer camps, instructing summer camps, and serving with adult and community education programs and workshops. Volunteers are also essential to our programs, and the AmeriCorps Field Educator will work with both staff and volunteers. Please include a cover letter and resume in application for this position. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps Field Educator will support the implementation of field education programs at WRI. This will include: teach hands-on, natural science education programs in both classroom and outdoor settings at Barn Beach Reserve and off-site locations; operate and maintain lab equipment and field equipment; manage participants’ physical, social, and emotional safety/risk; instruct day camp programs; teach programs independently and as part of a team; assist and support volunteers and high school interns; create lessons and activities for day camps (summer and school breaks); support evaluation of impact of Field Education Programs; collaborate with Youth Education & Community Programs staff; and support Wenatchee River Institute mission and community outreach.
