Anchorage Mayoral Homelessness Initiative VISTA

This project is part of an effort by Anchorage Mayor Berkowitz to increase community participation and support for the Anchorage Housing and Homeless initiative and community coordination of homeless resources. Anchorage housing and homeless service providers are collaborating to make scarce resources go further in the community through a process to align outreach and housing resources. This approach has been used in many communities to effectively reduce homelessness (Coordinated Entry) and allows for individualized assessment and referral of people to the right resource for their needs. This project will assist in examining areas where trained groups of volunteers may assist the community homeless service providers in supporting people who are exiting homelessness.
