WSC, Okanogan Conservation District, Conservation Educator
This project will increase our capacity to assist teachers who want to bring high quality STEM experiences to their students by participating in our K 12 programs. The AmeriCorps member will help Okanogan CD meet teachers needs by delivering K 12 STEM programs and assisting with community outreach events such as Earth Day and Washington State Envirothon. Okanogan County is a very large and rural county with extremely limited resources to support K 12 teachers. The Okanogan Conservation District is one of the only organizations working with area teachers to enhance their science curricula through hands-on learning and field experiences. Over the last 5 years we have built high quality programs that align with state standards. Demand from teachers for these free programs is now exceeding our capacity to serve teachers needs in the March through June time frame. This position is contingent on funding.
