Stewards VISTA Leader

: Serving as a Stewards VISTA leader is a unique and exciting opportunity to meet and work with a diverse group of people from non-profit, educational, and government sectors of society, and broaden one’s understanding of America's communities, organizations, and landscapes. Additionally, VISTA Leaders will have the opportunity to be engaged with exciting projects across the country that address issues such as food security, community resilience, education and jobs development, and legacy mining impacts. AmeriCorps VISTAs, AmeriCorps State and National members, and Peace Corps volunteers who have completed 365 days of service (or 1700 hours) are eligible for the position. Many Stewards VISTA projects are supported through unique partnerships with government agencies and bureaus in both rural and urban communities across the country. The support provided to these projects by Stewards VISTA Leaders is mostly remote, with consistent and frequent communication through email, phone, and others. Agencies that support Stewards VISTAs include the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE), Department of Interior (DOI) and Tribal Colleges and Universities, to name a few. Stewards has successfully placed hundreds of VISTAs at sites across the country. We strive to create a better future for people and for the environment by supporting and investing in the next generation of leaders. As a Stewards VISTA Leader, you will be part of a larger national organization that takes a multifaceted approach to engaging youth, alleviating poverty, and addressing environmental issues.
