Averett University VISTA Project - MBF
 
 
 
At Middle Border Forward (MBF), the VISTA Member will collaborate with MBF staff to implement marketing and communications strategies to raise awareness of the movement, especially among hard-to-reach populations; design and distribute media products, including websites, newsletters, brochures, reports, posters, emails, social media, and other media; utilize graphic design software and tools to develop high-quality printed and digital publications; develop images and content for regular communications via social media networks; develop systems for user-friendly maintenance of communications tools (website, email, social media, etc.) by MBF staff; take quality digital photographs and process/edit them for use in communications materials; and collect details of MBF-influenced stories for use in media materials. Essential skills include creativity and ingenuity, design software proficiency, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work with a small team, vendors & the general public. Middle Border Forward is on a mission to “cultivate inclusive leadership, inspire community engagement and create equitable access to opportunities” in the Dan River Region. MBF’s work is focused on six identified areas of community development: arts & culture, business, education, environment, health & wellness and infrastructure. Chief among MBF’s values are a commitment to inclusivity and the belief that every person has the potential to make a positive impact in their community.

Member Duties : As the VISTA member, you will serve as MBF's Communications Coordinator, increasing MBF’s capacity to effectively share its programming & recruit participants from within hard-to-reach communities, including disenfranchised, rural and low-income individuals.
