2017 Substance/Opiate Abuse Reduction Coordinator ELKHORN
 
 
 
Our substance/opiate abuse reduction project is a collaboration between the Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (WAFCC), the Walworth County Department of Health & Human Services (WCDHHS), and Open Arms Free Clinic (OAFC). The location for this project is Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services in Elkhorn, WI. The mission of the Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (WAFCC) is to support, strengthen, and advocate for the uniqueness of the Wisconsin free and charitable clinics, the patients they serve, and the communities with whom they partner. The Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services (WCDHHS) exists to serve as a resource for persons who need assistance, a safety net for individuals and families in crisis, and a partner for improving quality of life. The Walworth County Division of Public Health further defines it’s mission as in alliance with our diverse communities, we protect, promote, and preserve health and wellness. Open Arms Free Clinic (OAFC), the only free clinic in Walworth County, strives to better understand and serve the health and wellness needs of the uninsured, low income, and under-served residents of Walworth County residents with compassion and understanding. **Interviews are done on a rolling basis. Member Duties : Goal of the Project: 1. Raise awareness within the community around the opioid and methamphetamine epidemic as well as other issues related to alcohol and other drug use/abuse. 2. Increase resources to combat the local drug epidemic. 3. Develop collaborative opportunities to address substance use and abuse where community members are. The location for this project is Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services in Elkhorn, WI.
