2019 Substance/Opiate Abuse Reduction Coordinator MAUSTON
 
 
 
This substance/opiate abuse reduction project is collaboration between Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (WAFCC), & Juneau County Health Department. It is located in Mauston, WI. WAFCC supports, strengthens, & advocates for FCCs, the patients they serve, & the communities with whom they partner. The location for this project is Juneau County Health Department in Mauston, WI. The mission of Juneau County Health Department is “To protect and promote health and wellness within Juneau County.” The health department is a member of the SAFE coalition. Its mission is “to improve the lives of children, youth, and adults by mobilizing communities to prevent and treat alcohol, tobacco, and prescription drugs in Juneau County.” SAFE has members representing youth, parents, business, media, schools, youth and civic organizations, law enforcement, faith-based, health care, safety net clinic, and government officials. This coalition’s work plan addresses prevention and treatment of tobacco, alcohol, and prescription drugs use. In addition we are working with community members to secure a Medication Assisted Treatment program and establish a drug court. **Interviews are done on a rolling basis. Member Duties : Goal of the Project: 1. Collaborate with school districts and others to reduce youth access to unauthorized prescription or illegal drugs with a focus on opioids. 2. Conduct on-going “take correctly, store safely, dispose properly and never share” prescription drug campaigns 3. Create community awareness and mobilization to prevent and address opioid and other drugs use and misuse. 4. Assure that SAFE Coalition and their community partners are implementing best practices for opioid prevention and treatment This project is a collaboration between the Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (WAFCC), and the Juneau County Health Department.
