19-20 Reno-Sanford Center for Aging-Health & Wellness Coord.

The Health and Wellness Outreach Coordinator, based out of the Sanford Center for Aging at the University of Nevada, Reno's School of Medicine, will help reduce the impact of poverty on older adults through developing strategies to connect older adults with existing wellness programs while implementing collaborative approaches to health. The Sanford Center for Aging's Enhancing Well-Being and Health Among Older Adults VISTA projects seeks to build capacity for health and wellness programs designed for older adults throughout Washoe County, Nevada. Washoe County is one of the fastest ageing communities in the United States and 35% of older adults report having at least one disability. Low income elders face higher rates of limitations due to functional disabilities and are at an increased risk of being institutionalized.
