Economic Development Corps
 
 
 
Economic Development Corps (EDC) is a New York State AmeriCorps program committed to fighting poverty and helping individuals achieve economic self-sufficiency through financial education and training. EDC members will serve in non-profit and educational institutions across the Buffalo-Niagara Region acting as financial coaches to decrease the number of economically disadvantaged individuals. EDC members will strive to reach economically disadvantaged adults aged 16 or older with a special focus on Opportunity Youth defined as individuals between the ages of 16 and 24 who are neither in school nor working.

Member Duties : Economic Development Corps members serve in a wide variety of capacities within their host sites including: one-on-one and group financial training, refugee resettlement services, assistance with first time home buyers, assistance with public benefits applications, assistance in foreclosure prevention, homeless outreach and prevention and job skills training
 
Program Benefits : Childcare assistance if eligible ,  Health Coverage ,  Living Allowance ,  Training ,  Education award upon successful completion of service .
