OSMRE VISTA: City of Victor Economic Diversification Project

The City of Victor Main Street Program and Victor DREAM work to improve economic and community vitality through participation in the National Main Street Center and the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s four-point approach. This program is administered at the state level by the Department of Local Affairs Main Street Program. The City of Victor has participated as a Designated Main Street Community since 2014 and continues to work towards economic vitality through public involvement, volunteer engagement, outreach and marketing, and projects that benefit local economic impacts. Recently through a Rural Economic Development Initiative Grant, the City could complete a historic building inventory of the downtown, a market/visitation analysis and an economic development strategy dubbed VictorRE. VictorRE is designed to be an informative tool geared towards business owners, entrepreneurs, economic development partners, investors, and real estate professionals. The goal of the program is to foster economic diversity to the extent that the community will retain vitality upon the closure of the mine which is projected in the next 10-15 years. The program will aim to create and implement an economic diversification plan, utilizing the tools and resources created in the VictorRE project to improve Victor’s economic future and community resiliency.
