YouthZone (UWBB Project)

YouthZone is a leader in youth programming and is dedicated to providing opportunities for youth to be responsible, contributing members of their families and society. A Colorado non-profit organization, YouthZone strives to enhance the quality of life in our communities through prevention, support, parent education and direct services. We proudly serve the communities of Aspen, Basalt, Carbondale, El Jebel, Glenwood Springs, New Castle, Silt, Rifle and Parachute. Our service area is located on the Western Slope of Colorado, about a three-hour drive west from Denver (180 miles) and about a 1.5-hour drive east (88 miles) from Grand Junction. Our area boasts scenic rivers and other four-season tourist attractions, especially our many festivals, mountain trails, fabulous ski resorts and hot springs. Our local communities experience significant levels of poverty due to a large number of low-paying, tourist- and ranching-related service jobs and our rural, low-population geographic area. We also work with a high number of Hispanic residents, so bilingual skills are a plus. The UWBB VISTA Project will offer $200/month housing stipends (paid directly to VISTA members’ landlords). Our VISTA cohort will include at least 12 positions. The YouthZone Marketing Coordinator VISTA will be responsible for creating a comprehensive marketing plan for the organization including digital, social, and print media. The Marketing Coordinator will create marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, and ads as well as digital content for the YouthZone website and Facebook page. We would also like the Marketing Coordinator to create a marketing campaign using youth engagement, experience and voice. We want to tell our clients stories through media. Preferred skills include: Excellent verbal and written communication, a keen eye for editing, Microsoft Office, Facebook, and organizational skills.
