Girl Scouts of Northern IL (GSNI) is about cultivating confident girls through a variety of experiences to make a difference in the world! This position is a volunteer opportunity with living allowance and is responsible for bringing Girl Scout programming to under-served girls who may be struggling academically through Project Opportunity in AURORA, DEKALB, CARPENTERSVILLE, ELGIN (U46), FREEPORT, STERLING, BOONE COUNTY, MCHENRY COUNTY and WINNEBAGO COUNTY. There is a living allowance and Education Award associated with the status of your membership. AmeriCorps Members will give programming based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) in weekly, hour-long sessions at multiple sites. This programming will help girls develop a strong sense of self and improve academic attitudes. As a Member you will help identify additional populations of under-served girls, identify partners and connect with them for collaborations and recruit new volunteers from local communities to help.

Member Duties : During the school year, work with groups of girls on a weekly basis, meeting for up to 34 weeks. Summer outreach sessions will be 6 – 11 weeks. Help identify populations of under-served girls. Help identify partners and connect with them for collaborations. Recruit volunteers to help with Project Opportunity. Deliver programming based on the GSLE in weekly, hour-long sessions at multiple sites. You will have to accurately submit paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
