OACBHA Statewide Opiate Project Coordinator
 
 
 
The Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities (OACBHA) VISTA project is designed to help the association work with its member Boards across Ohio as we implement our opiate plan, “Addressing Ohio’s Opiate Epidemic: A Plan for Action” The Vista Member will help OACBHA leadership coordinate at a state level those associations and organizations representing community partners for the purpose of aligning policies and practices to avoid overlap and coordinate statewide interventions. The member will also help us develop and implement a larger VISTA Program that will be offered to Ohio’s local ADAMH Boards to help them work as the statutorily mandated “hub” for Ohio’s 88 Counties, by working with the newly established Opiate Standing Committee to: • Educating state, county, and local policymakers, the Ohio General Assembly, and the community at large about the issues affecting individuals, families, and communities as a result of the opiate epidemic engulfing Ohio; • Understanding and helping boards implement statewide policies, funding, and programs directed at addressing the opiate epidemic; • Working to establish a common set of data to be collected in regards to programs and services directed toward addressing Ohio’s opiate epidemic; • Developing position statements, white papers, and/or policy papers; • Championing recovery by working to eliminate stigma and by sharing Recovery is Beautiful materials and messages. • Assist Boards with enhancements and technical assistance regarding opioid prevention (including overdose prevention and harm reduction), promotion, treatment, and recovery supports.

Member Duties : 1. Help organize and staff the OACBHA Opiate Standing Committee 2. Assist in the coordination of the annual opiate conference 3. Help develop and implement the statewide VISTA program, through the development of goals and objectives, and help Member boards develop local goals and objectives. 4. Work with the Opiate Committee to develop data points to be collected, and then help to produce a baseline report 5. Work with leadership to help Boards implement local “County Hubs to Combat Opioid Addiction”; 6. Help gather and organize data as local boards implement regional withdrawal management centers; The member will work with OACBHA, attending staff meetings, bi-monthly membership meetings, and responding to questions related to the Opiate Action Plan and Opiate Committee. Serving in this position will help build relationships and connections with other statewide organizations to support the member’s long-term employment opportunities.
