Stewards VISTA: Graduate Medical Education Consortium
The VISTA will create capacity for coalitions to work together, creating partnerships and leveraging resources for addiction prevent in high school and relapse prevention in the community of pain-prescription addicted miners seeking work in other fields. The VISTA worker will assist residents in understanding the unique features and culture of Coalfields healthcare delivery, and create opportunities for local residents to become medical residents or other healthcare workers in the regions they know and love.

Member Duties : The VISTA serving with GMEC will focus on community outreach, educating the public on healthcare access issues and on what legal requirements local hospitals and clinics must follow. The VISTA would be the community outreach arm, taking information to the public and gathering information on the understanding, perception, and use of existing or proposed resident and clinical outreaches. The VISTA would also work with legislative and community organizations to support the project. This opportunity will provide the VISTA will a breadth of knowledge and in-direct experience including counseling services, medical law, medicine, and social services. Applicant with basic sign language experience a plus, but not required. **All applicants welcome, with preference to Pre-Med student or recent graduate**
