*MTCC AmeriCorps Leader -- spectrUM Discovery Area
 
 
 
The spectrUM Discovery Area provides hands-on science education opportunities which promote a culture of learning and discovery for all, with the ultimate goal of inspiring young Montanans to pursue higher education and possibly careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The members will serve as a role models to the High School Explainers while they grow their science and education capabilities. They will provide hands-on science activities for at least 25 preschool to 8th grade youth per month through spectrUM programs, such as public hours, clubs, camps, and outreach activities. Provide opportunities for youth attending spectrUM programs to meet with and interact with role models from the University of Montana and affiliates in the community and will mentor high school students at the spectrUM Discovery Area.

Member Duties : Engage Montana’s next generation of scientists and leaders in hands-on science. The spectrUM AmeriCorps Team Leader will engage in hands-on science activities with youth at the University of Montana spectrUM Discovery Area and through spectrUM’s clubs, camps, and outreach programs. They will provide high-quality science education through the use of interactive exhibits, activities, and demonstrations. The AmeriCorps Leader will assist spectrUM Educators and recruit AmeriCorps college student Team Members. The AmeriCorps team will assist with EmPower Place at the Missoula Food Bank to engage youth in science activities.
