Grow Ohio Valley started in 2014 with the mission to achieve regional food security in the Wheeling, WV region. By becoming food secure, we intend for all residents to have easy access and proximity to adequately nutritious food. The VISTA will accomplish the following: Develop a business plan and operating procedures for the public market project. Capture food sales dollars in the local economy. Create job opportunities and enhance capacity of local agricultural producers. We are looking for someone who is both business-oriented and has an interest in social entrepreneurship. They must possess a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel); have an ability to establish strong rapport with multiple stakeholder groups; live a detail-oriented and organized life; have interest or experience in retail or food operations; and hold knowledge of local food cause and benefits to communities. This initiative is a unique opportunity to become immersed in and strongly impact a community. You will play a key role in a project with highly visible public presence that will directly influence and improve the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of people each week once launched. This is an opening for key professional development and to make a lasting impact on an historic city.
