Fort Hood Habitat for Humanity is looking for a Community and Veteran Outreach Specialist to join the team! Habitat for Humanity Texas is the state support organization to all 83 local Habitat for Humanity nonprofits, called affiliates, in Texas. Habitat Texas supports the state's Habitat affiliates by providing resource development, technical assistance, training, and disaster recovery services. Habitat Texas is hosting VISTA members at different affiliates across the state who will focus on increasing resources and community outreach efforts of local Habitat affiliates. The Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity is looking for a dedicated and passionate VISTA member to increase resources and community partnerships! The VISTA member will focus on veterans engagement and resource development to help build capacity and serve more families. The focus of the Habitat for Humanity Texas VISTA Build program is to increase resources for local Habitat for Humanity organizations in Texas. Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity seeks to grow it's veteran related programming and establish new resources to support the nonprofit's goals. As a part of the program the VISTA member will serve coordinating and implementing strategies to educate the public and veterans on Habitat’s mission and recruit resources (financial, material and human). In line with Habitat for Humanity Texas' resource development program, the VISTA member will support the Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity Leadership Team by coordinating activities to accomplish the organization’s goals in the areas of community engagement, resource development and volunteerism. The VISTA member would work to expand the veteran and regular volunteer base, financial resources, and veteran programming with the Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, the VISTA member will provide information at community meetings about affordable housing options, homeownership and repairs programs of Habitat for Humanity.

Member Duties : The Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity VISTA member will work to develop community relationships and development resources to support an increase services and programming to veterans and community members. Specifically the VISTA member will help to coordinate strategies to engage veterans, businesses, churches and civic organizations in opportunities to support Fort Hood Area for Humanity’s community goals; Seek engagement through giving and volunteering: Assist in raising resources; Help coordinate veteran services and increase support for veteran programming; Assist in the recruitment, coordination and support of volunteers that support Habitat programs, services and events; and help implement and manage social media and online communications.
