Arizona Serve - El Rio Health Chronic Pain Specialist

El Rio Santa Cruz Neighborhood Health Center, Inc. (El Rio Community Health Center, El Rio) has provided primary care services to the underserved and uninsured of Tucson for the past 47 years, and is currently providing a medical home for 94,000 persons. More than a third of patients live in poverty, and 15% are uninsured. Services are offered at multiple locations that are dispersed throughout the target neighborhoods to minimize transportation barriers. Through its service programs and linkages in the community, El Rio has become a leader in providing accessible and affordable health care for the medically underserved, and is recognized for the quality and innovations of its service programs and staff. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will help change current pain treatment practices at El Rio. Our goals are to reduce the stigma of having pain, improve how El Rio providers treat chronic pain and reduce the number of opioid-related deaths within our community. This will be accomplished by improving current prescribing practices, developing a program to treat opioid addiction and improving communication with patients. **Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, please do not wait until the deadline to apply.**
