Waco Habitat for Humanity is looking for a Veterans Engagement Specialist to join the team! Habitat for Humanity knows that safe, decent and affordable shelter plays an absolutely critical role in helping families to create a new cycle, one filled with possibilities and progress. Waco Habitat for Humanity is looking for an individual who is passionate about community engagement and helping people create a new cycle. The Community Engagement Specialist VISTA will serve with Waco Habitat for Humanity to increase awareness of Habitat's mission and establish partnerships with various local community groups. Specifically, the VISTA's primary focus will be to assist with the development of partnerships with the local veteran groups, assist with program development and volunteer management and recruitment. As a part of the program the VISTA member will serve coordinating and implementing strategies to educate the veterans, faith-based communities, and veteran organizations on Habitat’s mission and recruit resources (financial, material and human). Habitat for Humanity Texas is hosting VISTA members at different local Habitats across Texas who will focus on increasing resources and community outreach efforts of local Habitats, such as Waco Habitat for Humanity. The focus of the Habitat for Humanity Texas VISTA program is to increase resources for local Habitat for Humanity organizations in Texas.

Member Duties : Waco Habitat for Humanity seeks to grow the relationship with veterans and veteran organizations. The VISTA member will serve to establish strong partnerships and programs with local veteran services groups through community outreach, marketing, and networking. Specifically, the VISTA member will work with Waco Habitat and the Veteran One Stop to refine the financial literacy program, expand the program, and increase affordable housing services through the Veteran One Stop. The Veterans One-Stop Center is designed to serve veterans and their families by providing housing and resource assistance, referrals, education, and needed information such as finical education materials. VISTA member service activities include creating marketing materials, presentations to the community, attending and leading community meetings, and assisting with program improvements and all Veteran OneStop volunteer activities.
