*MTCC AmeriCorps Team Member--Big Sky High
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps Team Members at Big Sky High School will commit to serving a 300 hour (minimum) term of service (approximately 10-12 hours/week) during the academic year and part of the summer, if needed. Successful college student candidates will serve as College Positive role models and be passionate about advancing equitable opportunities and addressing barriers for all youth to attend college.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps Team Member will support and facilitate existing school-based initiatives and pre-college activities at Big Sky High School that encourage students and families to consider, plan for, and apply to college. The Team Member will be responsible for recruiting volunteers to support these pre-college activities. Activities will include ACT/SAT preparation, parent education programs college application help days, and college/campus experiences and will serve to actively engage students in the college preparation process. The AmeriCorps Team member will also mentor and support at least 30 youth through one-on-one and group activities related to college access and student success, such as creating 5-year plans and conducting career inventories. Mentoring will boost students’ self-esteem, normalizing college going, and provide them with a meaningful relationship with a college positive adult.
