The Harris County Department of Education formed the Center for Afterschool, Summer and Enrichment (CASE) for Kids in 1999, to mobilize the community to work together to ensure that every child in Harris County has access to quality afterschool programs. CASE for Kids’ mission is to strengthen, support, and sustain afterschool programs and out of school time activities under its three strategic directions: enhancing quality, expanding resources, and driving change. Acting as a local afterschool intermediary, CASE for Kids provides funding, coaching, resources, and trainings to support afterschool programs across 25 school districts and various community organizations within Harris County. CASE for Kids‘ Communication VISTA that will assist in the development of a marketing plan and product deliverables that focuses on showcasing CASE of Kids and its services on its community through consistent communications, branding and promotional initiatives. This project will focus on assisting CASE for Kids in increasing its visibility and telling its story and impact on the greater Houston OST community to key community stakeholders, including families, schools, community organizations, and elected officials.

Member Duties : The Communications VISTA will assist in the development and implementation of a sustainable marketing plan that aligns to CASE for Kids mission, strategic directions and services. The Communications VISTA will work alongside the Marketing VISTA and collaborate with CASE for Kids, Communications & Marketing and the Research & Evaluation divisions to use collected data and program results to create marketing messaging, program spotlights, annual impact study, e-blast content for promotional and messaging purposes. VISTA will incorporate a variety of media types including print, video, web-based and social media platforms designed to educate the public on CASE for Kids and the Greater Houston Out-of-School-Time Community. VISTA will have access to necessary tools and trainings needed, if necessary. Strong writing and editing experience preferred.
