Chisholm Trail RSVP-Network of Community Ministries
 
 
 
Network of Community Ministries, Inc. responds to human need by giving assistance with the goal of helping individuals achieve long-term independence. Its mission is “caring, coaching and empowering neighbors in need as they seek an improved quality of life.” The Network of Community Ministries (NETWORK), founded in 1985, is a nonprofit organization formed during a time when the United States found itself in an economic downturn. The oil boom had gone bust, and hundreds of well-established families in the Richardson area were in a struggle. Several churches came together and decided to form a Church Alliance to assist families through trying times, and thus the term “NETWORK” of Community Ministries took shape. NETWORK is based in Richardson, TX and has a service area encompassing fourteen zip codes in Dallas County, with over 70% of those served coming from Lake Highlands, and Garland. NETWORK is a non-denominational, community-based organization with three divisions: Emergency Services, providing food, shelter, clothing and utility services to children, adults, and seniors; the Adolescent and Children’s Clinic, meeting the acute care medical and dental needs of uninsured children; and Seniors’ Net, dedicated to providing those 60+ with the resources to live independently in their own homes. Last year alone, NETWORK assisted over 38,000 individuals, children and seniors. Since 1985, NETWORK has impacted the lives of over 300,000 individuals. The Marketing and Fund Development VISTA will build NETWORK’s capacity by increasing fundraising efforts through grant writing and marketing efforts through social media platforms. Member Duties : As a Marketing and Fundraising VISTA with the Network of Community Ministries you will fight poverty and help empower neighbors as they seek an improved quality of life. Major duties include researching and writing at least 10 grant proposals with a potential outcome of $40,000 for NETWORK’s three program areas. The VISTA will also increase marketing efforts through a variety of social media platforms and develop strategies to build greater community awareness of the agency’s mission and programs. VISTAs serve their communities through indirect service, have limited interaction with NETWORK’s clients and will be based in an office setting. Applicants should possess good researching skills, strong verbal and writing communication skills, and computer skills.
