Friends of New River Gorge National River (Friends) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that assists the National Park Service (NPS) in achieving the management goals of New River Gorge National River, Bluestone National Scenic River, and Gauley River National Recreation Area. Friends is managed by a volunteer board of directors and works in conjunction with the NPS through a fundraising agreement and annual work plan.

Member Duties : This position will focus on membership recruitment and retention, board development, membership benefit development, and the development of funds to support general operations for Friends of New River Gorge National River. Additional responsibilities will include grant writing, volunteer project planning, and general marketing strategy development (including design of publications, writing press releases, and writing web content). This position will represent both the NPS and Friends of New River at outside meetings and within the community, promoting stewardship and support for park resources. An ideal candidate would have excellent communication skills, the ability to work well with others, and be a self-starter who can work independently.
