'20-'21 Greenville County Behavioral Health VISTA Leader
 
 
 
Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your leadership expertise while fighting poverty and making a huge and lasting impact on the lives of residents of Upstate South Carolina? For over 64 years, Mental Health America of Greenville County (MHAGC) has been promoting positive mental health. In the third year Greenville County Behavioral Health VISTA program, a dynamic VISTA Leader will collaborate with local non-profit and government agencies to expand community services related to mental health and opioid misuse prevention. Recent assessments of low-income adults indicate that limited access to mental health services and the growing opioid epidemic are two of the greatest concerns in the county. In Year 4 of the Behavioral Health VISTA Program, a Leader will help support a team of a minimum of 12 VISTAs at a minimum of five sites. Greenville, South Carolina continues to receive national and international recognition for its southern charm, opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, arts scene, sports culture, and cuisine. Greenville has been lauded by The New York Times as one of the 52 cities in the world to visit in 2017, by USA Today as one of the 10 best emerging destinations, and as one of America’s ten best downtowns for its combination of revitalized commercial and park space. Greenville is located at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains. **This position is eligible for an annual housing stipend of $3,000 paid to the landlord quarterly or monthly. A membership to a specific gym/recreational facility is also available. **Please note that to be considered for this position, candidates must have completed at least one full-time year of AmeriCorps or Peace Corps service experience. VISTA experience is preferred.

Member Duties : This position is based at Mental Health America of Greenville County in Greenville, SC. The Leader enhances the quality of the VISTA experience by: 1. Supporting the capacity-building activities of a minimum of 12 VISTA members at a minimum of five organizations; 2. Helping members navigate a year of service; 3. Communicating program needs back to leadership; 4. Implementing a professional development curriculum to provide technical training, facilitate meaningful conversations, and cultivate emerging nonprofit and community leaders; 5. Supporting recruitment and selection of high-quality VISTAs; and 6. Assisting with reporting and record-keeping. Note:Valid driver's license is required and VISTA experience preferred; VISTA Leader is eligible for a housing stipend to be paid to landlord *Please note that to be considered for this position, candidates must have completed at least one full-time year of AmeriCorps or Peace Corps experience. VISTA experience is preferred.
