Fund Development and Needs Assessment VISTA
 
 
 
The VISTA will be working on 2 main projects throughout the year. For the first project the VISTA will be working with the Board’s Communication & Development Committee, Executive Director and other stakeholders to increase planned giving and development for WJCC Community Action Agency. The VISTA Volunteer will research, develop and with a team coordinate implementation of a comprehensive fundraising and planned giving program. In addition, the VISTA will foster the growth of best practices in the supporting areas of development and major gifts community relations as related to cultivating and soliciting donors. The VISTA Volunteer will assist with strategic direction and provide long range/short range planning for all these areas in the context of growing the planned giving program while supporting the greater development and campaign goals of WJCC Community Action Agency. For the second project the VISTA will be working with the Community & Youth Services Department to assist with the preparation of an in-depth Community Needs Assessment. The VISTA Volunteer will do the research into the methods of carrying out a viable needs assessment and work with the WJCC CAA staff, members of the target communities and stakeholders to achieve the goal. The Volunteer will solicit information and concerns from the target communities, WJCC CAA staff, businesses, jurisdictional departments and leaders in the preparation of the Community Needs Assessment. The result of the needs assessment should include both quantitative and qualitative data.

Member Duties : Plan and coordinate programs to promote giving to WJCC. Prepare agency development proposal and present fundraising priorities to prospects for deferred and outright gifts. Develop marketing strategies for fundraising and planned gifts including annual fund appeals, group presentation, and peer to peer education. Attend meetings with donors, councils and area youth coalitions. Help the agency’s leadership improve their deferred gifts by utilizing personal solicitations, donor cultivation, event planning, and recognition events. Assist, as necessary, with other development activities, such as fundraising events, and administration of the development program. Prepare a procedural manual outlining the process to do a Community Needs Assessment. With the assistance of staff and community implement the Community Needs Assessment. Prepare outcome results. Create final report that includes process, research data, community feedback and outcomes.
