*MTCC Blackfeet Community College Dual Enrollment

The purpose of Blackfeet Community College is to provide the Blackfeet Nation and our “universal community” access to quality educational programs that prepare students for achievement in higher education, meaningful employment, basic skills instruction, and community education, while integrating the Blackfeet culture and language. The dual enrollment project will alleviate poverty by opening the door to postsecondary education wider to those students from families with minimal histories of college or postsecondary education. By offering college credit to high school students, the idea is that the both that the cost of education is decreased and the likelihood of attending college is increased. According to the Montana Department of Labor, students with a two year degree earn on average $10,000 more than high school graduates. Completing a postsecondary degree or certificate is a proven approach to increasing lifetime earnings (U.S. Department of Education). Glacier County current has 28.1% poverty rate.
