Mutual Housing Green Leaders Associate, NeighborWorks VISTA

Our Mutual Housing Green Leaders Program will provide an opportunity to educate families in best energy efficiency practices by maximizing their green building knowledge, therefore reducing their utility bills and adding more resources to family living. Not only will our program offer this education, but offer our youth exposure to the realm of environmental career and green career opportunities. The Mutual Housing Green Leader Associate will support the Green Leader Program by researching and collecting best practice across the housing industry on implementing programs that support “green” communities. The VISTA will also help Mutual Housing connect to organizations that are working on environment issues and environmental impact so that they can support the Green Leader Program, including helping to develop a summer internship program for youth in green careers. Mutual Housing California was created in 1988. Our mission is to develop and operate permanently affordable housing that builds strong and stable communities through resident participation and leadership development. In pursuit of our mission we have developed – either through renovation or new construction --19 mutual housing communities that are home to more than 3,000 low income and very low income families.
