Fuel Your Future - United Way of King County

United Way of King County's Fuel Your Future AmeriCorps team will continue to transform schools into nutrition hubs across Seattle and South King County. One in five kids in Washington State struggles with hunger. This project is designed to meet that need by deploying energetic, entrepreneurial AmeriCorps members in high-needs schools--where eligibility for nutrition programs like Free & Reduced Lunch is high but participation is low--to help students and families understand nutritious options and find resources to ensure no kid in the school goes hungry. The AmeriCorps members will deliver high-quality nutrition education, and establish and implement a variety of nutrition-related activities, events and curriculum that is relevant and culturally appropriate for the school community. Each AmeriCorps member will also build relationships with students, families, teachers, administrators and other community members to problem-solve individual students' situations to ensure they have access the resources they need to be food secure and make healthy choices. This position is contingent on funding.
