THN VISTA Coalition Coordinator (Grayson County)
 
 
 
The Texas Homeless Network (THN) works to provide solutions to end homelessness in Texas communities through education, resources and advocacy. Currently, THN has VISTA members placed throughout the state working on capacity building and program development to assist communities in ending homelessness. This VISTA project will build capacity to support the local coalition and the development of a Coordinated Entry (CE) system to better provide services for persons who experience homelessness. To achieve this goal, the VISTA member will primarily focus on strengthening partnerships and providing technical assistance to local homeless service organizations. The outcome will allow community partners to more effectively provide housing and other services to persons experiencing homelessness.

Member Duties : 1.) Assist with developing new processes for the Local Homeless Coalition's activities. 2.) Conduct any assessments necessary in identifying gaps or needs of the coalition. 3.) Identify and coordinate opportunities for collaboration to better serve the needs of those facing homelessness and housing instability. 4.) Support planning efforts of the coalition. 5.) Research best practices in homeless and housing services 6.) Research local organizations and practices in the area, identifying community strengths and gaps in services. 7.) Collaborate with site supervisor and other stakeholders to identify community needs and priorities. 8.) Produce and distribute materials on permanent housing-focused solutions designed to end homelessness. 9.) Assist in creating a plan for data collection, management, and sharing on a community-wide level. 10.) Create a plan for sustainability.
