NYIC VISTA @ India Home
This position is part of the NYIC VISTA program, which is run by the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) and places AmeriCorps VISTAs – referred to as NYIC VISTAs – at nonprofit organizations where they build organizational capacity through community outreach, communications, fundraising, program development and/or volunteer management projects. The capacity that they build is then used by their host organizations to advance their work on providing low-income immigrants with anti-poverty services (e.g., legal services, information about legal rights, healthcare, ESOL classes, education in digital literacy, domestic violence services, work experience programs). NYIC VISTAs are supported by the NYIC with a 3-day training at the beginning of their year of service, a community outreach class, monthly webinars, monthly check-ins with NYIC staff, and ongoing networking opportunities with other VISTAs. The NYIC,, aims to unite immigrants, members (i.e., NYIC Member organizations) and allies so all New Yorkers can thrive. The NYIC envisions a New York State that is stronger because all people are welcome, treated fairly, and given the chance to pursue their dreams.
