Collaborative Honors VISTA

The VISTA Honors Service Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Honors College, the ASPIRE Office, and the Pre-Health Professional Development Office at West Virginia University. In this capacity, he or she will engage WVU Honors College students, staff and faculty as well as others to expand and strengthen partnerships within the University; and between the Honors College, the local community, and the state. Moreover, the Coordinator will develop systems and processes for academic enrichment that build the capacity of the Honors College to provide meaningful service learning and civic engagement opportunities for its students while providing service to the state with a focus on lifting residents out of poverty. Further, the Coordinator will facilitate the second year of WVU’s PeaceCorps Prep Program through the ASPIRE Office, assisting students in preparing to be “PeaceCorps ready” at graduation. Finally, the Coordinator will develop a comprehensive database to facilitate pre-health professional students seeking shadowing opportunities, with an emphasis on rural areas of the state.

Member Duties : The member will work with three West Virginia University Honors College offices to assist them as they develop new student-centered initiatives focused on enhancing opportunities for service learning, community engagement, and professional development. He or she will be a member of a collaborate team, but will be expected to take the lead on assigned projects.
