VISTA Leader Equal Justice Works
 
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Build the capacity of VAHPP and TECDev projects by developing and deepening relationships with stakeholders, trainers, and VISTA program partners. • Assist in increasing the knowledge and skills of VISTA program partners and VISTA members around poverty alleviation, housing issues, economic opportunities, and community development. • Provide direct administrative support to the program, including coordinating conference calls, assisting to plan and coordinate trainings for VISTA members and supervisors, creating and presenting webinars, assisting with timekeeping systems, supporting reporting and compliance, and other assistance as needed. • Assist in processing and maintaining up to date project information in Equal Justice Works information systems and databases. • Assist with the recruitment of members and host sites to participate on the project. • Develop resources for VISTA member alums. • Attend a Leaders Training hosted by VISTA. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor of Arts required. • Available to begin by July 1, 2017. • Must have successfully completed one term as an AmeriCorps member prior to starting the position. • Attention to detail and problem solving skills. • Experience working with large amounts of data and database systems. • Knowledge of one or more project-relevant areas such as housing issues, economic opportunities, and community development preferred. • Professional maturity and excellent customer service. • Strong oral, written and organizational skills. • Comfortable with public speaking, experience facilitating workshops and/or webinars preferred. • An upbeat positive attitude and willingness to be flexible. • Self-starter and team player. • Interest in the intersection between public interest law and national service.

Member Duties : Equal Justice Works seeks a motivated VISTA Leader to support the work of the VAHPP and TECDev project. The projects work to develop over 50 VISTA member positions across the country, including lawyers and community organizers, focused on affordable housing preservation, tenant engagement and community economic development. Leaders are former AmeriCorps VISTA Members who have completed at least one term of full time service and have displayed exceptional leadership and passion for community service. In this full-time national service position, the VISTA Leader will have a lead role in VAHPP and TECDev project capacity building, including knowledge and skills training for project partners and VISTA members, partnership and resource development, and project evaluation. Reporting to the Public Programs Unit Assistant Director, the VISTA Leader will work closely with the VISTA Program Specialist and VISTA Program Coordinator as well as VISTA program partners.
