Head Start Access Associate
 
 
 
Center For Family Services (CFS) is a large and exciting nonprofit human services agency based in Camden City, NJ. CFS provides counseling, parenting education, substance abuse treatment, safe and supportive housing, early childhood education, and crisis intervention to children, individuals, and families throughout New Jersey. CFS offers Head Start schooling for pre-school students ages 3-5 in Camden City and County. Head Start provides comprehensive services to children and families in the following areas: Education, Special Education, Family Services, Mental Health, Physical Health, and Nutrition. Serving more than 700 children, the Center For Family Services (CFS) Head Start Program is dedicated to preparing children in Camden City and County for academic success in kindergarten and beyond. This VISTA position will support the Family Service component areas, with special focus on improving policies and procedures pertaining to Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance (ERSEA). You will help Head Start administrators enhance policies in order to increase families’ access to early childhood education. Your service will build a strong foundation for academic success for pre-school students in low income areas!

Member Duties : In this position, you will: 1) Revise policies pertaining to Head Start Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance (ERSEA); 2) Develop and update staff trainings; 3) Assess and revise Head Start recruitment strategies; 4) Create an action plan for promoting and supporting attendance; 5) Develop tracking systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency for ERSEA procedures; 6) Provide ongoing assessment and review of policies to support increasing access to Head Start. This position is perfect for someone interested in early childhood education, community advocacy, child development, social services, and school-based intervention. We look forward to working with someone who is driven to serve low-income minority students and who will work tirelessly to achieve the project goals. This position requires pre-service drug screening and criminal background checks.
