We also have a youth employment component where the member would serve alongside teenagers who are learning job skills as they are working to improve their communities. Member Duties : Depending on where you are placed, you may be the only member or you may be placed on a team. You might work in a community center or you might be in a park. You might have lots of resources or you might have to use a lot of creativity and improvise activities out of what is available. If you are working with younger kids, typical activities include swimming, reading, field trips, and physical activities such as ball, jump rope, and nature walks. If you are working with older kids, you will likely be working alongside them acting as a mix of mentor and job coach as you lead them in community service projects, neighborhood revitalization efforts, urban farming, etc. We will train members at the beginning of summer and then meet again once a week to see how things are going, continue with trainings, collect paperwork, etc.
