Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, Education Associate

The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust leads & inspires action to conserve & enhance the landscape from Seattle across the Cascade Mountains to Central WA, ensuring a long-term balance between people & nature. The Greenway Education Program plays an important role in connecting youth with the natural world in a setting that is safe & fun. We engage 3,000+ students in environmental education each year. Many of these students are from culturally diverse schools with a high percentage of students participating in the National School Lunch Program. The Greenway Trust is sponsoring two 10.5-month Education Associate AmeriCorps positions through the Washington Service Corps. These positions are contingent on funding. Education Associates are an integral part of the Greenway Trust’s highly effective team that works to further land conservation, recreation connections & public engagement across the Greenway landscape in balance with a growing regional population. The Education Associates play an essential role in Greenway Trust operations by teaching in the classroom, leading outdoor field trips, & facilitating hands-on service learning stewardship events. The Education Associates will serve more closely with the Volunteer Program by supporting weekday & weekend volunteer events during the winter months (roughly mid-November through mid-February). The right candidates will be flexible, organized & a quick learner. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about teaching & the natural world, who enjoys working as part of a team & who is interested in conserving a magnificent Northwest landscape. The Education Associates are based primarily out of the Greenway Trust’s main office in downtown Seattle, with frequent travel to schools in King County, Tiger Mountain & Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, & other locations within the Greenway. Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received with interviews taking place until placement is filled.
