20-21 Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust Education Associate

As a member of the Greenway Trust’s Education Program, you’ll have the opportunity to serve with a highly successful team in an energetic, productive, and fast-paced environment. Through classroom lessons and field trips, you will gain experience as an informal environmental educator. Interviews are expected to take place in May and June of 2020. With the goal of inspiring the next generation of conservation leaders, the Greenway Trust engages more than 3,000 4th-12th grade students from King County schools each year. These students represent some of the most diverse school districts in the nation. They deepen their sense of place and care for the natural world by learning about topics such as forest ecosystems, salmon, or land use. The capstone of our Education Program is a hands-on stewardship event, where students plant native trees and shrubs, remove invasive plants, or help maintain our native plant nursery. The Education Associate’s responsibilities can be categorized broadly by season. In the fall and spring, they will deliver classroom lessons, lead field trips and stewardship events, and assist in tracking program metrics. In the winter, the Education Associate will assist with updating education materials and maintaining the Greenway Trust’s Native Plant Nursery. In the summer, they will support an internship program and lead stewardship events for summer camp groups. Throughout the year, they will lead volunteer land stewardship events for community members on most Saturdays.
