Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative - Buffalo
 
 
 
VISTA member will enhance the work of the Buffalo Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative (ESPRI) Phase II THRIVE Buffalo pilot and that of United Way of Buffalo & Erie County as convener for the ESPRI project. Buffalo ESPRI Phase II has a racial equity focus and supports systems change in workforce development to reduce poverty and financial hardship in the City of Buffalo. The VISTA member will work directly with the ESPRI Project Director and ESPRI team on community outreach and education for the poverty initiative to build capacity in Phase II Implementation of ESPRI. The VISTA member will work directly with the ESPRI Executive Committee, the Community Advisory Board, community leaders and stakeholder coalition groups by engaging in outreach and education in support of the THRIVE Buffalo pilot goals and outcomes. The VISTA assists with the implementation of the THRIVE Buffalo pilot, coordinates among THRIVE partners, supports the vendor marketing and communications campaign of THRIVE Buffalo, facilitates resident engagement efforts through outreach methods to recruit resident participants into the process and aids with meetings of the Community Advisory Coalition. The VISTA assists with the selected vendor implementation of evaluation strategies and data collection. The VISTA will support vendor coordination of a mutual data management system for THRIVE Buffalo pilot. VISTA will participate in United Way project-wide initiatives, events, trainings, and CNCS reporting requirements.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will work directly with the ESPRI Project Director and ESPRI team on community outreach and education for the poverty initiative to build capacity in Phase II Implementation of ESPRI. The VISTA will help to build capacity for ESPRI/THRIVE Buffalo pilot: •Assisting vendors with media & communications strategy, marketing, and evaluation of pilot project •By reaching out to local organizations, coalitions, and community boards involved with workforce development •Assisting with the ESPRI phase II/ THRIVE Buffalo Executive Committee and Community Advisory Coalition •Connecting local VISTAS around the areas of workforce development and supportive services for individuals and families •Implementing volunteer management practices to build organizational capacity
