School Culture and Climate Initiative

The School Culture and Climate Initiative is a partnership between the United Way of Northern New Jersey (UWNNJ) and the Center for Human and Social Development of the College of Saint Elizabeth (Center) to create a model for school, community, health system, and higher education collaboration to assess and support the needs of K-12 school communities to ensure students are set up to thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. At the central core of the work, SCCI provides K-12 schools in New Jersey with the means to improve school climate and help develop students’ non-cognitive skills thereby increasing their academic success and overall well-being. The work of the integrated and interconnected partnership, as well as the work by each individual partner, is focused on impacting the system at multiple levels to ensure systemic, sustainable positive change. This is a New Jersey Campus Compact Statewide Collective Impact AmeriCorps VISTA Project. With our college and university partners, New Jersey Campus Compact is building a cohort of AmeriCorps VISTA members to support the anti-poverty work of 14 large-scale, cross-sector organizations focused on increasing education, economic opportunity, and healthy futures in NJ’s underserved urban areas. We seek a qualified, civic-minded individual to be the AmeriCorps VISTA serving at School Culture and Climate Initiative.
