2017-2018 City of San Antonio Faith-Based Initiative VISTA
 
 
 
In 2016, City Council Governance Committee recommended the creation of a Faith-Based Initiative. Based on best practices and Committee endorsement, a Community Faith-Based Liaison position was added to the Department of Human Services in the 2017 Fiscal Budget. The vision of this Initiative is to facilitate relational collaboration and active partnerships between the San Antonio faith community and governmental agencies, non-profit organizations and community groups towards improving the lives of families and communities in need. San Antonio is unique among cities and a forerunner with this type of faith-based initiative. A VISTA member will have the rare opportunity to participate in this forerunning in one of the most beautiful and unique cities in the U.S. Let’s not forget about the most compassionate team in the NBA, Our San Antonio SPURS!

Member Duties : VISTA Program Coordinator will work directly with the DHS Community Faith-Based Liaison to help develop relationships with key faith-based groups, interfaith networks, and nonprofit organizations; survey leadership, both faith and civic, for understanding of interests, services and strengths; create a network of diverse faith-based leaders and host recurring meetings; facilitate common vision and focus for faith-based activities towards community issues; build capacity through education and technical support systems to the faith and non-profit community.
