Tillamook County Health Department Health Futures VISTA
 
 
 
This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority VISTA Partnership Program, please visit: http://go.usa.gov/39Vd5 Goals of Tillamook County Health and Human Services Department with county leadership are to assure that health resources and food resources for quality nutrition are available to all regardless of income, social class, or ethnic group. This county has significant percentages of families and individuals challenged with low-incomes and inadequate housing. The Tillamook County Community Health Council, the Tillamook County Futures Council, and health care organizations participate in the transformation of health care in Oregon with the Columbia Pacific Coordinated Care Organization. Each of these organizations works for a healthier Tillamook County with the Board. Join our team in Tillamook County for a year on the beautiful Oregon Coast, partnering with Tillamook County leadership and allies to create a healthier Tillamook County. It is located on the beautiful Oregon Coast, with easy access to hiking and camping on both the coast and in the mountains, while still being an hour drive away from bustling Portland. It is also home to the infamous Tillamook Cheese Factory, a popular tourist site!

Member Duties : The VISTA will assist in leading a public health campaign, “Tillamook County Year of Wellness” (YOW), and continue the vision of a healthy Tillamook County as a comprehensive community-based coalition that expands access to wellness information, education, and programs to low-income community members in an enduring program. The YOW program engages community leaders and members across the county in low-cost public health initiatives to reduce the long-term health and economic impact of disease. By seeking programs of best practice, the goal to sustain a long-term outcome of a healthier Tillamook County is the goal. The VISTA will also create marketing communications and content to promote YOW, healthy lifestyle change, and community events to low-income community members via social media.
