Lincoln County Health Equity and Housing VISTA
 
 
 
This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training and professional development throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority VISTA Partnership Program, please visit: http://go.usa.gov/39Vd5 The majority of the Lincoln County’s residents live in communities along the coastline, with approximately 58% of residents living in the coastal communities and 43% living in unincorporated communities, farms and rural residences throughout the county. As a part of the Public Health Department’s Health Promotion team, the VISTA will conduct population-based outreach to raise awareness of health equity issues, and facilitate and assist with workgroups for the Community Health Improvement Plan that relate to socioeconomic stability, especially in the areas of affordable housing, access to a living wage, and access to social services. In addition to addressing health equity, these projects support the department’s readiness to apply for national accreditation. The VISTA will be a member of the Quality Improvement Team and work directly with the Accreditation Coordinator on achieving national standards. Success in these projects will require an outgoing nature with strong relationship-building and leadership skills. Lincoln County is located on the beautiful central Oregon Coast between the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Coast Range mountains to the east. Lincoln County offers a beautiful landscape, mild climate, and high air and water quality, all which make it easy to call this area home. The position will be based in Newport with easy access to beaches, a local farmer’s market and scenic hiking.

Member Duties : The VISTA will conduct population-based outreach to raise awareness of health equity issues, and facilitate and assist with workgroups for the Community Health Improvement Plan that relate to socioeconomic stability, especially in the areas of affordable housing, access to a living wage, and access to social services. This will be done through building relationships with, and convening local and regional partners under a collective impact framework to advance local program options that will help address these issues. The VISTA will work as part of the Public Health Department’s Health Promotion team, which oversees projects for multiple public health priorities through population-based outreach, education and community health program development. In addition to addressing health equity, these projects support the department’s ongoing work to achieve national accreditation.
