* MEO HRDC, IX Housing First

The Gallatin Valley Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit Community Action Agency of Bozeman, MT dedicated to building a better community through innovation and leadership. HRDC provides programs and services in the areas of Housing, Food & Nutrition, Child & Youth Development, Senior Empowerment, Community Transportation, Home-Heating Energy-Safety, and Community Development. With more than 600 households experiencing housing vulnerability and homelessness in Gallatin Park and Meagher Counties; HRDC’s Housing First program aims to address this by taking a holistic approach to addressing the issue of homelessness. This idea, in contrast to historical efforts, assumes that once the basic need of housing is met, people are better able to access supportive services that will lead to long term selfsufficiency and a pathway out of poverty. This project is designed to alleviate poverty through activities to increase access to affordable, safe housing for people living in poverty and homelessness in the Bozeman area, through the creation of single user “tiny” homes. These tiny homes have the potential to change the lives of 30-50 homeless men and women who have been living in homelessness for years without any alternative solutions.
