Family Resource Management Extension Associate VISTA Member

The South Dakota State University Extension Family Resource Management VISTA member will increase knowledge of and access to financial health and wellness techniques and resources for economically disadvantaged South Dakotans. The VISTA member will collaborate with the SDSU Extension Family Resource Management field specialist to implement a statewide financial literacy program collaborating with volunteers. Additionally, the VISTA member will assist in the activation and sustainability of a social media plan for family and personal finances by coordinating and developing plan for using social media platforms, and developing publications and articles for the organization's website. Overall, the VISTA member will work toward identifying financial literacy needs of South Dakotans and developing sustainable, culturally specific programs; network with community stakeholders, leaders and businesses; recruit, train, and manage volunteers; perform outreach, and evaluating the success of the program.

Member Duties : Collaborate with Family Resource Management Field Specialist to implement a statewide money management program for a primary audience of middle to low-income consumers. Assist with the development and implementation of a professional development program for high school personal finance teachers. Assist with the activation of a social media plan and content development about financial literacy by coordinating and updating social media platforms, collaborating with field specialist and developing instructional videos about personal financial knowledge and skills.
