FIT VISTA-Afterschool Support & Capacity Building Specialist

Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains is one of 112 councils chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA, the world’s preeminent leadership development organization for girls. We serve more than 9,000 girls in New Hampshire and Vermont with the guidance of more than 3,500 dedicated and trained volunteers. We provide an accepting and nurturing environment, helping girls discover their strengths, passions, and talents. Girls involved in Girl Scouts, whether through traditional troop involvement, day or resident camps, or even virtual programming, receive the Girl Scout Leadership Experience: encouraging them to discover themselves, connect with others, and take action to make the world a better place. Every activity at Girl Scouts is girl-driven, so girls learn to make good choices and discover their potential as a leader. Traditional Girl Scout programming such as outdoors skills and first aid are now joined with new opportunities for girls learn about STEM subjects, advocacy and political science, dating violence awareness, and much more. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the number-one financial literacy program for girls, teaching them valuable skills like money management, goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. In turn, community service is a vital part of our mission to make the world a better place. Girl Scouts just in our council alone participate in thousands of hours of service projects each year, not only directly benefiting their community, but also our country and world as well. Girl Scouts offers every girl the chance to do something amazing and we’re excited to have a VISTA join the GSGWM team to help reach us more low income and at risk girls who would benefit from being a Girl Scout.
