US2020 RTP -Knowledge Management Lead

Research Triangle Park (RTP) is home to over 170 global STEM corporations and located between three major universities (Duke University, NC State University and UNC Chapel Hill). We seek to leverage our elite workforce of globally competitive scientists, researchers, mathematicians and engineers in these fields to unlock a pipeline of volunteer STEM mentors for K-12 schools, colleges and universities and build a culture of STEM mentorship as a way of doing business in RTP. We serve as a conduit between the corporate and non-profit/education fields by helping to deliver staff to a number of STEM-related events occurring throughout the year and also hosting events ourselves. Everything we do comes back to the goal of growing the connection to STEM activities so that a new generation of students will be inspired to follow a path to a STEM career. Our efforts will develop and grow high impact STEM mentoring initiatives, outreach activities and bring all stakeholders together in a community of practice to analyze and scale these varied STEM mentoring and outreach approaches for low income youth. We have built a coalition of 30+ corporate/government partners and over 70 non-profit/education partners to help develop high quality STEM opportunities for underserved students in Wake and Durham counties. Our program focuses specifically on students from three distinct categories: girls, low-income backgrounds, and underrepresented minority groups.
